ELKTON - Carrie Elizabeth Dovel, 87, of Rt. 2, Elkton died Sunday at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient a week.

Mrs. Dovel was born March 9, 1894, at McGaheysville and was a daughter of the late William and Fannie Rion Hanes.

On May 14, 1914, she married C. M. Dovel, who died March 31, 1971.

Surviving are six daughters, Ruby Dovel of Rt. 2, Elkton, Mamie Lam, Clara Akers, Irene Hughes, Maxine Day, all of Elkton, and Margaret Sipe of McGaheysville; four sons, Harry, Calvin and Lynwood Dovel, all of Elkton, and Layton Dovel of Bladensburg, Md.; 11 grandchildren; and seven greatgrandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's United Methodist Church by the Rev. Deborah Austin. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. today at the Brill Funeral Home in Elkton. Friends also may call at the Dovel home.
