William Robert Watkins was the widower of Lula Jean Oakley Watkins. They were married on January 24,1952, and were married for 56 years before Jean passed away on February 17,2008. They were apart for 3 months and 19 days before the Lord brought them back together as one in there marriage.
In this marriage they had a total of 8 children. Two out of those 8 died at birth, they were Dorthy Ann and Elmer, both are buried at Spruce. Living children of Bill are Virginia (Stanley) Elkins and Rebecca (Ronnie) Beer both of Stanton, Arthur (Sarah) Watkins and Kathleen (Emanuel) Johnson both of Camargo, Robert (Margie) Watkins and David (Mildred) Watkins both of Jeffersonville, Ky. He was also the grandfather to 17 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He had 2 living sisters Betty Willoughby, of Redkey Indiana, and Della Estepp of Jeffersonville Ky. And 2 very special friends, Frank and Shelia Apicella of Camargo.
Bill was a farm worker most all his life. And he attended Spruce Church for many years with Jean at his side. Bill was laid to rest next to his wife Jean on Sunday, June 8, 2008 in the Spruce Cemetery. The Pallbearers were his grandsons.
