Lester, the last child of John C. and Wilmina, was born on August 13, 1896, twenty two years after his eldest sibling Joseph. On September 3, 1921, he married Laura W. Ehlers, a native of Jackson County and daughter of Henry and Anna Mohienhoff Ehlers who had immigrated to the U.S. from Germany. Lester and Laura eventually moved to Davenport, Iowa, where he worked with an electric company. They had one child, a son, Paul Henry, born in 1925.
