Wayne J. Ark, 71, Ontonagon, died November 11, 1995 at Ontonagon Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Wayne was born 7/21/1924 in Mass City, son of Waino & Elsie Wesander Ark. He attended Mass school.
He was an Army Veteran of World War 11 service in the Pacific area. He received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He later served in the Korean conflict.
Wayne was employed at White Pine Copper Co. for 31 years retiring in 1982.
On 2/19/1954, he married the former Mary Yanasak and made their home in Ontonagon.
He was a member of AARP and a life member of the Ontonagon Historical Society.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, a son Wayne "Butch" Ark, 3 daughters, Kim Wilber, Doreen (Dale) York and Arliss Jagielski, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Walter (Sonny) Ark - Mass, Robert Ark - Phoenix, Az. and 2 sisters, Alice (Harold) Oertel-Alger, Mi, Ruth (Arnold) Huuki - Keweenaw Bay, Mi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, & 3 sisters.
Services held at Cane Funeral Home with Rev. Wm. Burgess officiating.
