BACA: Eduardo T. Baca, 88, a longtime Faywood resident, passed away Sunday at Mimbres Memorial Nursing Home in Deming. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 Wednesday afternoon at Baca's Funeral Chapels in Deming. The vigil service will begin that evening at 7 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Deming and the funeral liturgy will be concelebrated there Thursday morning at 10 with His Excellency, Bishop Ricardo Ramirez presiding. The rite of committal will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. He was born June 19,1907 at the Soliz Ranch in the Lower Mimbres Valley to Ramon Baca and Porfiria Trujillo. On Feb. 6,1930, he married Elena Dominguez and they were the parents of seven children. All of his working life he was a farmer at the family homestead established by his parents at Faywood. He had a great love of music and was a self-taught accomplished musician on many instruments. The fiddle was his favorite. For years, he and his family played at many functions in the area. Four years ago, he left the family farm and moved to Deming, where he was a communicant at St. Ann's Catholic Church. Survivors include a daughter, Nora Baca of Deming; five sons, Adan, Julian, Fernando ""Buddy"" and Mayor Sam Baca of, Deming, andRamon D; Baca of Faywood; a brother, Fred Baca of Deming a sister, Virginia T. Baca of Las Cruces; 23 grandchildren 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ramon, Jose, Francisco and Cipriano Baca; three sisters, Elena Chavira, Maria Soliz and Guadalupe Rael; an infant daughter, Clara; his wife, Elena, who died Feb. 5, 1988; two great granddaughters, Andrea Baca, in 1989, and Jennifer Anne Orozco, in 1975; and a grandson, Johnny Salaiz, in 1995. Serving as pallbearers will be Antonio Baca, Alfreclo Baca, Jenaro Baca, Bernardo Chavira, Ray Baca, Anselmo Rael and Charlie Vigil. Entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral homes."
