Clarence was too young for WWI and too old for WWII. He was the superintendent in charge of building salvage boats in the Islais' Creek Yard. These were used in WWII, especially in the South Pacific. He was a shop superintendent in the reinforcing steel industry for over 50 years. Once of his hobbies was making bookends, desk sets, and other items out of steel re-bars and chrome plating them.
