EASTVILLE - Helen Jacob Wilkins, 89, wife of F. Tucker Wilkins Jr. and a resident of Eastville, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998.

Mrs. Wilkins, born in Machipongo, was the daughter of the late Robert Clarke Jacob and Lillian Kellam Jacob. She attended Mary Washington College and taught at Franktown School. Following their marriage, she and her husband lived in the Washington, D.C., area for 39 years.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Wilkins is survived by daughters, Helen W.O. Newton of Richmond and Elizabeth W. Rowe of Rockville, Md.; her sons-in-law, Thomas L. Newton Jr. and Louis Rowe; grandchildren, Mark D. Obenshain, Anne O. Zumbro, Kate O. Griffin, Julia A. Rowe, Elizabeth P. Rowe; step-grandchildren, T. Lee Newton III and Sidney H. Newton; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Lillian J. Oliver, Margaret J. Kuhn, Anne J. Dunton; and a brother, Robert C. Jacob Jr. She was the sister of the late Wilmina J. Walker.

Graveside services were held at Hungars Church, Bridgetown, Va., on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, at 2 p.m., by the Rev. Harry W. Crandall.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Cape Charles Rescue Service, Cape Charles, Va. 23310 or The VMI Endowment Fund, Lexington, Va., 24450. Arrangements are made by Fox and James Funeral Home, Eastville
