Herman Dale Caldwell, 79, of Broken Bow, OK was born October 23, 1930, in Love County, the son of Rush and Maggie Kingston Caldwell. He passed away Thursday, October 7, 2010 in the McCurtain Memorial Hospital, Idabel, OK.

A veteran of the Korean Conflict, Mr. Caldwell served in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge from service in 1954, he moved to the Broken Bow area to make his home where he was employed as a plumber and pipe fitter with Weyerhauser, retiring after 21 years of employment. He and the former Rudenia Gammon were married in Idabel on April 1, 1954. Mr. Caldwell enjoyed fishing and spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of his greatest delights was pestering his nieces and nephews in various ways. Mr. Caldwell was of the Baptist faith.

Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Deborah Lynn Caldwell; and sister, Linda Lou Garner.

He is survived by his wife, Rudenia Caldwell of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Herman Lee and Illean Caldwell of Hot Springs, AR and James and Wanda Caldwell of Broken Bow; three daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Jimmy Perry, Sheila and John Dean and Melisa and Charles Greenlee, all of Broken Bow; two sisters, Wanda Caldwell of Marietta and Faye Martin of Gainesville, TX; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as bearers will be Jimmy Garner, Steve Couey, Chris Caldwell, Don Garner, Daniel Greenlee and Tommy Wade. Honorary bearers are Johnny Caldwell, Jimmy Perry, Shelby Smith and Michael Culp.
