Catherine Russell, aged 81, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Fowles, 1163 Twenty-fifth street, at 12:05 a.m. today after a short illness.
Mrs. Russell was born in Scotland on August 13, 1848, and was brought to America in 1849 in a party of L.D.S. converts. She was married to Francis Russell on December 29, 1866. In Riverdale, she lived there until her husband died, then moved to Hooper and remained there until four years ago, when she came to Ogden. She is survived by the following children: John Russell of Roy; adam Russell and Mrs. George Fowles of Ogden and Francis Russell of Grand View Idaho; 20 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, also one sister, Mrs. Jeanette Child of Hooper.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 30, at 2 p.m. in the Hooper ward chapel, with Bishop J. D. Hooper in charge. The body may be viewed at the home of Mrs. George Fowles, 1163 Twenty-fifth street, Sunday from 2 until 8 p.m., and Monday until noon, then Monday afternoon from 1:30 until 2 p.m. in Hooper chapel. Burial will be made in the Ogden city cemetery under the direction of the Intermountain mortuary.
