Mrs. Mary Fife Patterson Called to Great Beyond.
Resident of Weber County Fifty-seven Years -- Leaves Large Posterity to Mourn Her Loss.
The many friends and acquaintances of Mrs. Mary Fife Patterson, mother of Adam Patterson, will be pained to learn of her death, which occurred last evening at 8:45 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jennet Hamblen of Riverdale. Mrs. Patterson was 81 years old, she having been born at Clockmanan, Scotland, June 8, 1827. She was the daughter of Mr. Adam and Mrs. Ellen Sharp Fife, and was the wife of Alexander Patterson.
Mrs. Patterson died of old age and general debility. She had been a useful woman in her long years of life and she has passed to a well deserved rest. She joined the Mormon church in her native land, in the year 1847, and emigrated to Utah in 1851, settling in Weber County, where she spent the remainder of her days.
She was the mother of 13 children, ten of whom survive her, all of the surviving ones, except Adam Patterson, who is at present in Nevada, being at her bedside when the final summons came. The names of her children are: Adam Patterson, Alexander Patterson, Mrs. Ellen Russell, Mrs. Mary Healy, Mrs. Margaret Child, Mrs. Jennet Hamblen, Mrs. Agnes Conant, Mrs. Katherine Shupe, and James and Joseph Patterson. She also left a further posterity of 78 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be announced later.
