In researching many online records an entry was found in the New Jersey Deaths and Burials Index that shows a "Thomas Tripp", birth date "1835", from "Monroe, Georgia", age "19 years", a "Student At College", died on "17 Nov 1854", a "Single" "Male", son of "R Tripp" and "E Tripp" on "FHL Film Number 584570." The entries for "R Trippe" and "E Trippe" are believed to be Thomas' parents Robert Trippe 1782-1875 and Elizabeth Hicks Bass Trippe, 1795-1875, well-to-do parents whose children all seem to have attended Ivy League schools. One of their sons was a U. S. Congressman and a CSA Congressman from Georgia, Robert Pleasant Trippe, Sr. 1819-1900.

Thomas J. Trippe is the youngest child of Robert and Elizabeth Trippe. His middle name may be John, which is the name of his mother's father, John Hicks Bass 1763-1850.

In the 1850 US Census of the Robert Trippe family in Monroe County, Georgia the two youngest children shown were Thomas Trippe (this Thomas J. Trippe) and Solomon Trippe. We know Solomon Trippe was really Robert Solomon Lockett, 1836-1897. Robert Trippe's oldest child was shown on this Census as "Sarah A. Lockett", 1811-1898, a widow, who is the mother of Robert Solomon Lockett, now living with Sarah's parents.

The Monroe County, Georgia 1840 US Census of the Robert Trippe family lists 1 Male under 5 (probably Robert Solomon Lockett) and 1 Male 5-9 years old (probably Thomas J. Trippe). Individual names were not listed in the 1840 Census.
