She was born in 1919 in Perry, Oregon to David and Nettie Geddes. Following a happy childhood in Denver, she enrolled at Utah State in Logan.
Selected the "Sweetheart of Sigma Chi," she caught the eye of student body president and basketball team captain, J. Elmo Garff. Romance followed, and soon they were married in the Salt Lake Temple in 1940.
Mother was a life-long active member of the LDS Church, where she held numerous callings - many of which involved music. She loved serving with Elmo as President of the Ohio Cleveland Mission (1985-1988). She also played the organ in the Salt Lake Temple.
Mother loved family gatherings and time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was very patriotic.
Married for sixty-seven years, mother and father love each other dearly and have spent their lives making each other happy. They developed many life-long close friends.
Mother is survived by her husband, J. Elmo Garff; sister, Marge (Guy) Murray; daughters, Suzanne (Brett) Reynolds and Kathryn (Robert) Robinson; son, Richard (Valerie) Garff; eighteen grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter, Patricia Anderegg.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 10, 2007 at 12:00 p.m. in the Little Cottonwood Stake Center, 1160 East Vine Street (6015 South). Viewings will be held on Thursday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, and Friday from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the Church.
