July 30, 1738, d. Jan. 14, 1818; m. 1768 Esther, dau. of David Clarke, of Medfield, d. 1797. He settled at what is called "the old saw-mill place" at Noon Hill in Medfield, and lived there until his father died. He then left that place to his son-in-law, Enos Smith, and returned to the old homestead by the cemetery. He was a Revolutionary soldier with the rank of Lieut."

Ephraim Wheelock's (4th Suffolk Co.) regt. of Mass. militia; list of officers chosen in said regiment, dated Wrentham, April 8, 1776; ordered in Council April 23, 1776, that said officers be commissioned; reported commissioned April 21 [?], 1776; also, Medfield militia records; entry dated May 10, 1776, stating that said Plimpton had been commissioned Lieutenant of 1st (Medfield) co., Col. Ephraim Wheelock's (4th Suffolk Co.) regt., Brig. Palmer's brigade; also, Lieutenant, Capt. Sabin Man's co. of Medfield militia; return of train band and equipments, dated June 10, 1776; age, 36 yrs.; also, Medfield militia records; entry dated July 18, 1776, signed by Capt. Sabin Mann, directing said Plimpton to warn the men belonging to militia and alarm list to assemble under arms Friday, July 19, 1776, at 1 P.M., under penalty of £10 each for nonappearance; also, list of men credited with turns of service "Dune in the Last Wars in the Days of Capt Morse the first And Captain Collidge," made up from the records and attested by Capt. Peter Collidge in Nov., 1776; said Plimpton oredited with 1 turn and as having paid £37 10s; list attested by Capt. Sabin Mann and Philip Blake, Clerk, Nov. 17, 1776; also, list of men belonging to Capt. Sabin Mann's co. of Medfield militia who marched to Providence, R. I., and thence to Warwick Neck, in accordance with orders given by Maj. James Metcalf Dec. 8, and Dec. 9, 1776; service, 23 days; also, Capt. Mann's co.; marched Dec. 8, 1776; discharged Dec. 30, 1776; service, 23 days, under Maj. James Metcalf; company marched to Rhode Island on the alarm of Dec. 8, 1776; also, list of men belonging to Capt. Mann's co. who were drafted in accordance with an order from Col. Ephraim Wheelock, dated Medfield, April 15, 1777; said Plimpton reported as having marched April 22, 1777, and returned June [May] 12, 1777; service, 20 days, in a company made up from Medfield, Medway, Bellingham, and Walpole, placed under command of Capt. Sabin Mann, ordered to march to Providence, R. I., and there serve under Gen. Spencer until discharged; also, list of men belonging to Capt. Mann's co. of Medfield militia, comprising one-half the town militia, who were ordered to march to Rhode Island on the alarm of July 22, 1777, [p.470] in accordance with a warrant from Col. Hawes; said Plimpton reported as having marched."
