Maedine Kay Hicks born May 25, 1942 went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 13, 2010. She was born on the family homestead in Delaware County, Oklahoma to parents Fred Wesley Hillard, Sr. and Hazel Leona Prettyman Hillard. Graduated from Turkey Ford Grade School, Grove High School, Miami Junior College, Northeastern Oklahoma State College and Tulsa St. John Hospital School of Medical Technology. August 20, 1965 she married Edward Lewis Hicks. One child, James Edward Hicks was born to this union. Worked as Staff Technologist for St.John-Tulsa, St. Francis, Wichita, KS., and Bartlett Hospital, Sapulpa, OK. She was appointed Lab Administrator in 1972 for Bartlett Hospital Laboratory and held that position until Tulsa St. John Health System acquired Bartlett Memorial Medical Center in 1999. Worked for Regional Medical Laboratory, an affiliate of Tulsa St. John, as Lab Manager until retirement. Professional affiliations included Medical Technologist registered by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, membership in American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science, Oklahoma Society for Clinical Laboratory Science, and National Society of Lab Managers. Served on Health Careers Advisory Board for Central Technology Center, Sapulpa, OK. She was a member of the American Business Women s Association and was voted Woman Of The Year 1995 and Boss Of The Year 2004. Also, member of Sapulpa First United Methodist Church, Wesleyan Fellowship, Joy Circle, Compassionate Care Committee, Parsonage Committee and Fidelis Sunday School Class. Served on Counsel Of Ministries as Chairperson Of Children s Activities and Health and Welfare. Served as Ambassador to Sapulpa Chamber Of Commerce, and volunteered at Sapulpa Historical Society and Museum.

Preceded in death by parents, Fred Wesley Hilliard, Sr. and Hazel Leona Prettyman Hilliard, husband Edward Lewis Hicks, brother Fred Wesley Hilliard, Jr., and sister Linda Loyce McKibben.

Survivors include son James Edward and wife La Jeania Ann of Cleveland, Texas; grandchildren Nicholas James, Ryan Edward, Jefferson Daniel, and Kendall Elizabeth; sisters Freda Audine, Donna Lou and brother Truman Eugene all of Wyandotte, OK. Also, survived by beloved friend William Clifford; several nieces and nephews and numerous friends. Family visitation will be held on Friday, October 15, 2010 from 4-7:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Chapel, Sapulpa, Ok. Services will be at Sapulpa First United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2010. Officiating will be Kenneth Kern and Reverend Darryl Owen. Bearers will be Ted Evans, Ray Schwer, tom Reynolds, Ron Hillsberry, Randy Jordan, Gary Brookshire and Bob Duckert. Interment to follow at Green Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Sapulpa Historical Society, or Sapulpa First United Methodist Church.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Sapulpa, Ok.
