Robert Wilhelm Carl Voigt Jr.

LAYTON – Robert W. Voigt Jr., 91, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather passed away peacefully on October 14, 2010 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on October 8, 2010. He was born on December 28, 1918 in Apache, Oklahoma to Robert Wilhelm Carl Voigt Sr. and Amanda Anna Marie Schlenburg.

He married Kathryn Prather on September 9, 1942. They just celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in June 1964. He retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1973 with many years of service. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corp.

He was preceded in death by his sweet wife of 68 years, his parents, brothers William, Albert, Martin and sister Viola, and his son Reid Duane.

Bob had a great love for his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and he especially had a great love for airplanes.

He is survived by his children, Robert W. Voigt III (Diane), Albert E. Voigt, and Vickie Lynn Draper, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to Lisa Johnson, she was our dad's guardian angel and to all the doctor's and staff at McKay-Dee Hospital for the excellent care our dad received.
