MRS. IVAN ANDERSON

Ariel Ruth Mason, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mason, was born in Cedar township, Lucas county, Iowa, February 26, 1904, and passed away at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines at the age of 38 years, two months and six days from a serious heart ailment.

She united with the Christian church at Bethlehem, Iowa, at the age of 16 and has ever since been a faithful Christian. She graduated from Chariton high school in 1922 and taught school in Lucas county for three years.

She was married to Ivan Richard Anderson February 18, 1925. To this union two children were born, Earl Leo, age 16, and Dorothy Louise, age 11, who with the husband survive her.

She also leaves to mourn their loss her parents, two brothers, Hubert Ustel and Ray Elijah; and two sisters, Erma Marie Johnson and Eleanor Pearl, all of whom are living in Lucas county except Eleanor, who is a 2nd lieutenant in the Army Nursing Corps and at present is stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. Also surviving are ten nieces and nephews, many other relatives and a host of friends.

Mrs. Anderson was in poor health for several months prior to her passing and submitted to an operation for appendicitis in the fall of 1941, from which she recovered. But her health gradually failed and on April 11 she was taken to the hospital in Des Moines, but the dread disease failed to respond to the physicians' treatment and nurses skillful care and she passed on to her heavenly home, God knowing best, Saturday afternoon, May 2, 1942, at 3:00 p.m. Her husband, mother and sister Eleanor were at the bedside when she passed away.

She was well known, her life having been lived in Lucas and Wayne counties, and was extremely well liked, as she was always thoughtful of the welfare and comfort of others.

Funeral services were conducted from the Chariton Christian church Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, in charge of the Rev. A. E. Beals of Russell, assisted by Rev. Virgil W. Neville. Interment followed at the Chariton cemetery.
