Charlie was the middle child and older son of James Parrish and Martha Hannah (Spires) Story. He first married Ida Seymour 2 December 1913 in Morgan County. Ida died 16 October 1929, and Charlie later remarried to a widow, Lottie. He had no children with either wife.
Charlie was a farmer, like so many others in his family, but was also a talented builder. He built the house he and his wives lived in, and made a beautiful walnut pulpit for his church.
