Military graveside service for John Henry Merritt Jr, 61, of Hartselle will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Decatur City Cemetery with Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 3 at the funeral home.

Mr. Merritt died Friday, September 29, 2000, at home. He was born December 1, 1938, in Warsaw, N.C. to Harrie Murry Merritt and John Henry Merritt. He was a truck driver and was retired from the Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Merritt; two sons, John Henry Merritt III of Dallas, Texas, and Troy Merritt of Niceville, Fla; three daughters, Linda Merritt Tanner of Waynesville, Mo, Glenda Merritt Carbine of Franklin, Tenn, and Marjorie Merritt Tidwell of Decatur; one brother, James Merritt of New Llano, La; three sisters, Dorothy Blanton of Wallace, N.C. Peggy Trammel of New Iberia, La and Elsie Thompson of Little River, S.C.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be John Henry Merritt, Troy Merritt, Denzel Carbine, Samuel Carbine, Randy Tidwell and Larry Tanner.
