Placer County death certificate spells his last name "Hollenberg"; California Death Index is in the name "Ray Hollenberg."

Son of Nels HALLENBORG and Emma ANDERSON, both of Sweden.

Brother of Frances HALLENBORG, who is also buried in the Weimar Cemetery.

He served as a Private from Nebraska in the 45 Artillery of the Coast Artillery Corps (CAC) during World War I. He enlisted on 25 Jul 1918 and was discharged on 19 Feb 1919.

He was living in Placer County at the time of his admission to the Weimar Joint Sanatorium where he was a patient when he died at the Placer County Hospital from a heart condition; he is the only person buried in the (old) Weimar Cemetery who did not die at the Sanatorium.

The 45th Regiment of the Coast Artillery Corps (CAC) was formed in July of 1918 at Camp Eustis, Virginia. In October 1918 they moved to Camp Stuart, Virginia mobilizing for overseas duty. On 21 October 1918 the regiment sailed from Newport News, Virginia for duty with the AEF in France. The 45th was in France a short time and after the war ended were returned to the States 31 January 1919. They returned to Camp Mills, New York and were demobilized at Camp Dix, New Jersey on 6 February, 1919.
