James Carson Alford Sr. died Tuesday at home. He was born in Bulloch County and was a member of New Richland Baptist Church and St. Johns Masonic Lodge No. 6 in Norwalk, Conn. He was a retired foreman for the King Industries Chemical Co. and an Army veteran of World War II.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Jewell G. Alford of Warner Robins; three sons, James C. Alford Jr. of Norwalk, David R. and Morris G. Alford, both of Warner Robins; a daughter, Sandra K. Johns of McRae; four brothers, Harold E. Alford of Pembroke, Homer Alford of Danville, Oscar Alford of Warner Robins and Alphus Alford of Naknek, Alaska; seven sisters, Julia Thompson of Faulkville, Juanita Derwick of Georgetown, S.C., Margie Clifton and Lois Harper, both of Byron, Glennis Whaley of Dover, Jessie DeLoach of Claxton and Lora Wilson of Pooler; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL: 11 a.m. today at New Richland Baptist Church, Twiggs County, burial at 3 p.m. in Northside Cemetery, Pembroke.
