Mary Eloise Roberts VanCleve, 79, of Olney died at Richland Memorial Hospital Sunday September 21, 1992.

Funeral services at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home with Rev. Mark C. Myers officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. VanCleve was born July 12, 1913 in Richland County, the daughter of A.C. and Lutie (Head) Roberts, Sr. She married Gilbert VanCleve July 23, 1933.

Mrs. VanCleve was a homemaker. She was actively involved in helping her husband when he was Sheriff and other activities. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, P.E.O. and Olney Central College String Ensemble.

Mrs. VanCleve is survived by her husband, Gilbert VanCleve of Olney; two daughters, Mrs. Steve (Kathy) Burkhart of Hazleton, Ind. and Mrs. Don (Sandy) Mattingly of Taylorville; one daughter-in-law, Sandra VanCleve of Centralia; one half-brother, A.C. Roberts, Jr. of Salem; one sister, Evelyn Germer of Olney; four half-sisters, Mary Jane Plummer and Peggy Carson, both of Olney, Winifred Joiner of Carbondale, Colo., Virginia McIlwain of Rockford; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. VanCleve was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Lillian Roberts and one son, Charles Chadwick VanCleve.
