Ira Ulysses Cooper was the son of Daniel Boone & Sarah Jane Hendrickson Cooper. He married Laura Ellen Queen, daughter of Thomas Augustine Queen & Rhoda Hannah Reynolds Queen, on Sept. 22, 1895, in Lawrence Co., IN.

Marion towhnship Man Stricken While Milking At Home Of Son Late Tuesday
Ira Ulysses Cooper, 69 years old, died suddenly at 5:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the home of his son, Leslie Cooper, located on the Meridian Road north of Mitchell. Coroner Roland E. Wynne, who was called to investigate his death, attributed it to a ruptured aneurysm. The body was removed to the Haverly mortuary in Mitchell for burial preparations.
Mr. Cooper was milking at the barn on hi son's farm when stricken and died before medical aid could be summoned. His 6-year-old grandson had accompanied him to the barn and seeing his grandfather collapse, ran to the house and informed his mother, advising her that his grandfather was dead as he had called to him twice and received no response. Mrs. Cooper and her two daughters hurried to the barn and found the aged man unconscious and he expired in a few minutes.
The deceased was a native of Shawswick township and was born to Boone and Sarah J. Hendrickson Cooper on the Poor Farm Road southeast of Bedford on February 19,1866. He was twice married, first to Miss Margaret Beasley in young manhood. She died at the birth of a son, Oliver, who also preceded his father to the grave. His second marriage was with Miss Laura Queen of Bedford. She died in 1918. Three children were born to their union, Leslie, with whom he made his home; Kennedy, Niagra Falls, N.Y. and Wallace, who died in infancy.
Other surviving relatives are two brothers, George Cooper, of Marion township , and Jasper Cooper, of Lafayette, and six grandchildren. Wallace Queen of Bedford, is a brother-in-law, Mrs. T.E. Henderson, of Bedford, is a sister-in-law of the deceased and another sister-in-law, Mrs. Edith Kennedy, resides at St. Mary's-of-the-Woods.
He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
Funeral arrangements are being delayed pending word from the son in New York.

Ira C. Cooper Dies Suddenly
Funeral services for Ira Ulysses Cooper, 69, who died suddenly at 5:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the home of his son, Leslie Cooper, on Meridian Road just north of Mitchell, will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the son's home, with the Rev. R.O. LaHue, pastor of the First Methodist Church, here in charge. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Haverly Mortuary. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Bedford.
Mr. Cooper had complained lately of severe pains in his chest but he appeared Tuesday to be feeling as well as usual and had assisted with work around the farm. In the late afternoon he went to the barn to do the milking, being accompanied by his six year old grandson, Winfred Cooper, son of Leslie Cooper. While in the barn milking Mr. Cooper was stricken suddenly and collapsed. The boy saw his grandfather fall, and ran to the house to inform his mother. Mrs. Cooper and two daughters hurried to the stricken man and found him unconscious. He died within a few minutes. Coroner Dr. R. E. Wynne was called from Bedford, and pronounced the death due to a ruptured aneurysm.

Survivors are two sons by the second marriage, Leslie Cooper, with whom the father was making his home, and Kennedy Cooper of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; three brothers, George Cooper of Marion Township, Clarence Cooper of Indianapolis, and Jasper Cooper of Indianapolis; and six grandchildren.
