ROBERT A. BERGMAN

Robert A. Bergman, 60, of 355 S. Main Street in Geneva, died at 3:55 a.m. today (Friday) in the VA Hospital in Fort Wayne following an extended illness. A 26 year employee of Decatur Casting, Bergman retired in May of 1977. He was a member of the VFW in Geneva, the DAV and a life member of the American Legion Post 468 in Berne.

Born in Jay County on Feb. 6, 1925, he was the son of Mrs. Minnie Huey, who resides on Route 2, Berne and the late Oren Bergman. On Feb. 16, 1946 he married Joyce Booher and she survives.

Surviving besides the wife and the mother are two sons, Rick and Randy Bergman, both of Geneva; one daughter, Mrs. John (Dolores) Hofstetter of Berne; four sisters, Mrs. Dale (Edith 'Babe') Morningstar of Berne; Mrs. Carl (Betty) Newland of Bryant; Ms. Mary Bergman and Mrs. Norma Bailey, both of Portland; five brothers, Orval 'Jake' Bergman of Bryant; Harley 'Pete' Bergman of Decatur; John Bergman of Monroe; Herb Bergman of Taylor, Michigan and Junior 'Skipp' Bergman of Taylor, Michigan; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in the Downing Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Bill Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday or until time of services on Monday.

Preferred memorials are to the VA Hospital Cancer Fund.
