DR. J. R. HOUSEL, dentist, was born in Milton, Northumberland county, Pennsylvania, January 15, 1840, son of Isaac and Mary (Hougendobler) Housel, natives of this county. The Housel family originally came from Holland, but the grandparents came from New Jersey to this county. His paternal grandfather served in the war of 1812, and his great grandparents on both sides served in the Revolutionary war. Isaac Housel was the father of the following children: J. R.; Annie, widow of William Everard; George, deceased; Miller, deceased; Frances E., widow of Lindsley Priestley; Sallie S. Johnston, of Milton, and Kate C., deceased. He died, August 28, 1872.
