Mrs. Salina Panchot Passes
Mrs. Salina M. Panchot, longtime resident here, passed away at the St. Clare hospital in Fort Benton Tuesday morning, June 5th, following an illness extending over several months. Death was due to infirmities of age. She had been a patient in the hospital since March 18th. She had resided in the vicinity of Big Sandy since coming to the state in 1911, and was loved and respected by all who knew her.
Salina M. Spencer was born at Kendall Mills, N. Y., Oct. 12, 1852, and was 92 years, 7 months and 23 days of age at the time of her death. She was united in marriage to John D. Panchot April 3, 1873. A few years after their marriage they moved to North Dakota where they engaged in farming from 1882 to 1911, when they came to Montana and took up a homestead west of Big Sandy. The husband passed away in 1927. In 1932 she moved to Big Sandy where she has since resided. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
There were nine children in the family, two preceding her in death. Those surviving are: J.W. Panchot, and Mrs. John Bursack, of Northome, Minn.; Albert E. Panchot, of Minneapolis; Mrs. Frank Becker, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Alta Bliss, Pomona, Calif.; Mrs. Arthur Tucker, Great Falls; Dave Panchot of Big Sandy; 36 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist church in Big Sandy last Friday afternoon at 2:30. Burial was in Big Sandy cemetery.
