Joseph* Brooks Meets Death in Runaway Accident
Joseph* Brooks, father of Harry Brooks, who has resided in this section of the country for some time, met with a horrible death last Tuesday evening about six o'clock near the M & M stables north of this city. He was driving his team hitched to a hayrack, and it is presumed, although not definitely known, that the team became frightened and unmanageable. Mr. Brooks was thrown to the ground and, from his condition when found, it was thought he had been dragged for some distance as his body was terribly cut and bruised. When found, life was extinct. The body was taken to the undertaking parlors of Brende Brothers and the funeral was held from the Methodist church in this city Thursday and interment made in Big Sandy cemetery.
Deceased was about 55 years of age and left a wife and his son, Harry, and many friends and relatives to mourn his untimely death.
