Joshua Reddick was born May 20, 1804 in Washington County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of William Reddick and Margaret Trump. He spent his younger years in Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Ohio. In the year 1823 he followed his older brother Elisha Reddick to Lawrence Township, Marion County, Indiana. After raising a small crop in the fall of 1824 he traveled back to Ohio to bring his parents and sisters back with him to Lawrence Township, Marion County, Indiana. In 1825 Joshua, his parents and sisters traveled by covered wagon to Lawrence Township. Once there Joshua's father William entered 160 acres of land for his youngest son Joshua. The land was established as a farm and known as the Elijah Fletcher farm. Later it was called the Joshua Reddick Farm. On the farm Joshua and William set apart a site for a burial ground that was later called and stilled known as the Tom Silvey Graveyard. This graveyard is now part of the Benjamin Harrison State Park. His father William and mother Margaret lived on the farm until William's death in Oct. 1831. After his father's death his mother Margaret moved to Clinton County, Illinois.

Joshua sold the farm in 1848 and moved his family to Clinton County, Illinois where his mother had relocated after his father's death. In the month of September 1858 Joshua died of milk sickness and within 2 weeks of his death three of his adult children William, George and Elizabeth also died from milk sickness. His mother Margaret Trump Reddick died in January 1859 and his wife Elizabeth died April 1860 also of milk sickness.

Joshua married Elizabeth Eller on November 2, 1828 in Marion County, Indiana. They had seven children. Electra, William, George W., Francis M., Elizabeth, Elisa E. and Elmira Catherine Reddick.

Joshua and his family were true American pioneers. His father William Reddick is also remembered as an patriot of the American Revolutionary War.
