"Frederick Bowen - born 1780, in Virginia, came to Montgomery County (now Powell County), about 1796. He married Martha Patty Morton, daughter of Capt. John and Lucy (Blakely) Morton, from Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Martha Patty (Morton) Bowen, born 1784, married 1799, came with her widowed mother and a large family to Kentucky when 12 years old. She had ten children, died before 1852, and was buried somewhere in Powell County, KY. Frederick died in 1852 during an epidemic, which also took his daughter Nancy Faulkner. One member of the family said he was buried close to where his daughter was buried on the Faulkner home place on North Fork of Red River, Powell County."
