Robert Gibb Mitchell (Known as GIBB) of 148 Albert Street was a printer in the employ of WilliamThyne Ltd. Lochend Works, Marionville Road and Lochend Park.
On the outbreak of war he joined the 1st/7th Royal Scots and died in WW1 in the Gretna Green (Quintinshill) Disaster of 22/05/1915. His unit was en route to the Dardanelles Campaign in Gallipoli when their train ran into a passenger train. 227 people died.
