Name appears to be P. Nathaniel Ames, known only as Nathaniel or Nat, entered here as Nathaniel P. for search convenience.

Son of /Fisher/Daniel and Julia Ames, who divorced before he was in his teens.

m: Mrs. Ida Opal Lee (Murrell) Gardner, 1902, Clinton. He was age 40, may have had prior marriage.

AMES, Nathaniel - 79Y 9M 19D widowed white male retired - born: Jul 21 1860 Bloomington, IL - died: May 10 1940 Clinton, Henry Co, MO - father: Daniel Ames, born Illinois - mother: unknown - spouse: Ida Ames - informant: Odie Ames, Calhoun, MO - cause: cerebral hemorrhage - buried: May 12 1940 Calhoun Cemetery, Henry Co, MO - filed as: Nathaniel Ames, state file no: 18541
(transcribed death cert. from Henry Co. website, used with permission.)

Note, 2nd photo on right is his mother's marker, listing Nathaniel and his siblings.

Alert, his death cert. gives name of his father as Daniel Ames, yet his mother's memorial has her linked to Fisher Ames, and he is age 8 with Fisher J. and Julia Ames in 1870. "Daniel" appears to be incorrect. Research ongoing.
Complication: Mother's maiden name appears to be Fisher, so she was Julia Fisher Ames married to Fisher Ames. Can this be correct?
