Moved to Jefferson Co., NE in 1880 and lived there until 1908 when he and Eliza moved to be nearer their children. Both of their final years were spent in Eastland Co., TX near their son W.B. STARR.
He made friends with many of his former Confederate "enemies" in Cisco. After his death, a band of musicians composed of former Confederate rebels led his coffin to the train station while many others followed behind before his body was taken to Indiana.
