SPRINGFIELD - Marion B. Heid, 83, of Springfield died at 6:39 am, Sunday, October 3, 2010 at St. John's Hospital. She was born April 14, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois to Eugene A. and Lila Lawless Bringaze. She married Robert L. Heid on August 20, 1949 and he preceded her in death on April 15, 2004. Her parents; one son, Christopher Heid and an infant brother also preceded her in death.

She is survived by seven daughters Lila (Steven) Antonacci of Springfield, Marian (Stephen) England of Springfield, Roberta (Dan) Pierro of Chicago, Elizabeth (James) LaFata of Springfield, Katherine (Michael) Broglin of Springfield, Barbara (John) Livingstone of Springfield and Therese (Danny) Rhodes of Springfield; three sons Eugene (Mary Jane) Heid of Springfield, Joseph Heid of Nashville, TN and Karl Heid of Winona Lake, IN; Thirty Grandchildren; Eleven Great Grandchildren; two sisters Lila Rabbitt of St. Louis, MO and Barbara (Walter) Asbury of Belleville; one brother Eugene A. (Lou) Bringaze II of Belleville and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marion was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception; St. Joseph Coterie; she was widely known as an outstanding bridge player, playing in as many as seven bridge marathons at a time. Later, when her eyesight failed, she used remarkable skills and memory to become the terror of the canasta table. She was proud to be the mother of twins, grandmother of twins and the great grandmother of twins. She was an avid reader and listened to audio books after her eyesight failed.

A resident of Springfield for most of her life, Marion retired in 1990 from the Administrative Office of the Illinois Supreme Court as the office administrator.

Funeral Mass: 10 am, Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Reverend Peter Harman and Monsignor John Osfola officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception or to Lincoln Library Audio Book Department.
