Dr. Carpenter was the son of Joseph and Bethia (Babcock) Carpenter. He was married in 1822 at Milton, Vermont where he resided at the time. His wife's name was Phoebe "Gerrard." (She is buried in Marion County, Illinois). They had 8-children:
1 > John,
2 > Joseph,
3 > Pitt,
4 > Harlow,
5 > Frank,
6 > George,
7 > Mary Maria,
8 > Harriet J.
He moved his family to Akron around 1823.
Aged 73 yrs, 3 days.
Cause of death: erysipelas fever.
