Ivey Harriet Bondy, 88, Wadena, formerly of Henning, died Nov. 16, 2005, at her home.

She was born in Clitherall Township on March 24, 1917, the daughter of Otto and Bessie, (Olson) Eklund. She was raised in rural Battle Lake and attended Battle Lake High School. She attended Moorhead State Teachers College and it was there that she met her first husband, Capt. Frank Torreano. He was killed in the Second World War. Following Capt. Torreano's death, she worked for the Reconstruction Finance Corp. and later taught in several Minnesota towns.

She was married on April 15, 1946, to Donald Bondy in Minneapolis. They operated Bondy's Leaf Lakes Ballroom and Resort until the late 1960s. They then moved to Minneapolis where she worked for the Leamington Hotel. She retired in 1971 and returned to Leaf Lakes. Don died June 30, 1973.
She continued to make her home at Leaf Lakes until 1992 when she sold her house and moved to a home in Wadena, where she lived until the time of her death.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary and the Senior Citizens group. She enjoyed crafts, sewing and quilting.

She is survived by son Jeff (Lori) Ross, Minnetonka; brother O. B. Eklund, Holiday School, Ark.; and sister-in-law Elsie Eklund, Henning.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; her sisters, including an infant sister, Hazel, Myrtle, and Elsie; and brothers: Murphy, Hector, Orvy, and infant brother, Lester.

Visitation: Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 8 p.m. at the funeral home; visitation one hour prior to service at the church

Service: 12 noon Wednesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Henning
