Rear Admiral Paul Edward Pihl was the son of Gusguave Edward Pihl and Lidia Johnson. His first wife was Charlotte Willkie, sister of Wendell Willkie. His second wife was Dorothy (aka Gretchen) (Van Ness) Gufler (first husband Bernard Gufler).
