Absalom Lasater was born to James & Susannah Lasater on June 4, 1814 in Tennessee. He was one of twelve Lasater children. On July 16, 1834 he married Louisa Vickers in White County, Illinois. Louisa Vickers was also from Tennessee. Absalom & Louisa Lasater had five children: Elizabeth Lasater born in 1835; James M. Lasater born in 1837; Milton Edward Lasater born in 1838; Margaret A. Lasater born in 1840 and Lucinda C. Lasater born in 1842. Absalom was a farmer in the Sacramento area of White County, Illinois. He was cutting wood behind the barn on November 23, 1843 when he was struck by lightning and killed instantly. His wife, Louisa Vickers Lasater remarried a few years later on March 15, 1846 to Royal Alden, who was also a widower. The 1850 census record shows the family living in Hamilton County, Illinois with all five of the young Lasater children and four Alden children.
