The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1997, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Overlook Cemetery.He was born in Spray, NC, was a member of Riverview Presbyterian Church, served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army in WWII. He was awarded the bronze star. He retired from Fieldcrest Mills were he was a napper operator.He is survived by his sons, Gary E. Meeks, Sr. of Eden; Eric "Rick'' Meeks of Levonia, Mi.; daughter, Rebecca Shaver of Richfield; sisters, Rhumell Land of Eden; Doris Hallman of Eden; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Ensley Meeks, formerly of Fieldale, Va.
The family will receive friends at the home, 722 Osborne St., Eden.
