Rhumell Meeks Land, 77, of 341 Walter Chambers Street, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009 at her home. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Overlook Cemetery. A native of Rockingham County, Mrs. Land was born December 28, 1931 to the late Pryor H. and Laura Harris Meeks. She was a member of Riverview Presbyterian Church. She was the angel of our family, as well as of our home. Surviving is her husband, Ray Newnam Land of the home; daughter, Lisa Land Holt of Stoneville; granddaughter, Rebekah Estes of Stoneville; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Bart Land; five brothers; and three sisters.
