Mrs. Frank Janecek, Prominent Dodge Woman, Is Buried
Dodge, April 28 - Mrs. Frank Janecek, wife of one of Dodge's most prominent citizens, died at the family home Saturday, April 25 at 6:15 p.m.
The deceased had been in failing health for a year and during the past three months had been bedfast most of the time, suffering from heart trouble. Ever since the first days of her illness every effort was made to prolong her life, but of no avail.
Sophie Hampl was born March 12, 1861 in the village of Tytry, Rakovnik, Bohemia. With her parents, she emigrated to America in 1872 and located in Milwaukee, Wis. A year later they moved to West Point, where they took up a homestead.
In 1881 she was united in marriage to Frank D. Janecek. To this union were born eight children, five who survive are: Elhard, Stephan, Mrs. Aug. Wilna, Mrs. Maria Popelar and Mrs. V. Kriz, all of Dodge. Besides the husband and children there are three sisters, Mrs. K. Walter of Crofton, Neb.; Mrs. C. Pospisil, West Point; Mrs. Fanny Orth, Haxtum, Colo. Four brothers: Alex Hampl, Luray, Kan.; Pantelon Hampl., Clarkson, Neb.; Frank Hampl, Howells; Raymond Hampl, Spencer, Neb. There are also eleven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 o'clock at the home with Rev. Havlik in charge. The remains were laid to rest beside her children in the family lot in the Bohemian National cemetery east of Dodge.
