Deloris L. Hudkins
Oct. 18, 1921-Dec. 8, 2008

Deloris L. HUDKINS, 87, of Provenna Sacred Heart Home, Avilla, formerly or Rochester, died at 9:25 a.m. Monday at Parkview Noble, Kendallville.
Born in Rochester, she was the daughter of Elmer and Mae Rix Arven. She was a proud graduate of Rochester High School in 1939 and lived most of her life in Fulton County.
On Feb. 18, 1941, she married Loyal Judson Hudkins in Rochester. He preceded her in death, along with her parents.
Deloris was a homemaker and a 50-year member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Crafting was one of her specialties. She especially enjoyed ceramics and shared her finished projects with family and friends. The same was true with her counted cross-stitch creations. In earlier years, she enjoyed flower gardening around her home. Her favorite flowers were orchids. It was a tradition of her husband, Jud, to surprise her with an orchid corsage for Mother's Day.
A card player, Deloris enjoyed spirited games of euchre and spite and malice. On Saturday afternoons, prior to gathering for games of cards, Deloris and her girlfriends could be seen trekking across country to visit some of their favorite dining locales.
Paramount in her life was her family. She particularly looked forward to visits from her grandchildren. She enjoyed following their school activities and was proud of their achievements.
Survivors include three sons, Stephen Hudkins, Kent, Ohio, Joe Hudkins and wife Janine, Lexington, Ky., and Tom Hudkins and wife Patti, Avilla; eight grandchildren, Kathy Davies, Mike Hudkins, Brian Hudkins Jennifer Watne, Tim Hudkins, Christina Hudkins, Christopher Hudkins and Aylesha Hudkins; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Arlene Baer and husband Emery, Logansport; and a brother-in-law, Francis Hudkins and wife Mary, Kewanna.
Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester, with the Rev. Buck Padilla officiating. Burial will be at IOOF Cemetery, Rochester. Friends may visit with the family from 1 p.m. until the service. Electronic expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at [email protected].
