Born Jan. 17, 1924, in Rochester, she was the daughter of Elmer and Mae Elizabeth Rix Arvin. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Ida and Earl Gibson. On Feb. 14, 1960, in Rochester, she was married to Emery L. Baer, who preceded her in death April 24, 2014.
Arlene was a homemaker devoted to her family. Her happiest days were in the country home where she and her husband used to live. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed crocheting. She enjoyed listening to birds and the companionship of her dog, Mandy. Gifts from her family were always cherished, but the real joy came from the love they shared.
Surviving are her daughter, Cynthia Baer of Logansport; granddaughter, Shannon Brummitt of Logansport; and three brothers-in-law, Allen (Rita) Baer, Robert (Marilyn) Baer and Thomas Parkins, all of Logansport; four sisters-in-law, Mary Emery, Marcella (Donald) Rist, Evelyn (Gary) Byers and Barb Baer, all of Lognasport and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Delores Hudkins; brother-in-law Herbert "Ben" Baer; and two sisters-in-law, Luila "Lou" Berkshire and Rita Parkins.
A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday in Fisher Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery.Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral chapel.
