Mr. James Byron "J.B." Alderman, 91, of 8055 Boykin Bridge Road, Clinton, died Wednesday in Sampson Regional Medical Center, Clinton, NC.

Mr. Alderman, born in Sampson County, was the son of the late James Byron Alderman, Sr. and Anna Beatty Robinson Alderman. He was a farmer and retired CEO of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service, now known as Farm Service Agency. He was a lifelong and devoted member of Harmony Baptist Church serving as past Sunday School Director, a Sunday School teacher, and many other leadership positions. He was a Deacon, serving as chairman of the deacons for many years, and given the Deacon Emeritus Award in 2005. He was a World War II, US Air Force veteran, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and past Master and Teasurer of Hiram Masonic Lodge #98 in Clinton, and member of Clinton Rotary Club. Mr. Alderman was a past president of Sampson County Farm Bureau and served on the Board of Directors and also served Sampson County on various other boards. A brother, Sidney Alderman and two sisters, Mildred A. Herring and Mattie Grce A. Boyd, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Myrtis Johnson Alderman of the home, a son, James Ronnie Alderman and wife Patricia of Clinton, four grandsons, Cory Alderman and Blake Alderman of Clinton, Blair Alderman of White Lake, NC; Eric Alderman of Bolivia, NC; a sister, Myrtise Alderman Williams of Hampstead, NC; A wonderful host of nieces, nephews, dear cousins, and lifelong friends, and a lovong church family, very special caregivers; Gloria Stewart, Imogene Whitted, Rose Parker, Shae Hill, Ernest Caldwell and Alex Williams.

The family recieved friends from 6-8pm, Thursday, December 6, 2007 at the Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton and at other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harmony Baptist Church Building Fund, 1357 Harmon Church Rd., Clinton, NC., 28328.

The funeral services were held at 2pm, Friday, December 7, 2007 at Harmony Baptist Church with Reverend W.H. Calcutt officiating.

Burial was made in Clinton City Cemetery, Clinton, NC.
