From THE COURIER-JOURNAL, 06/25/1890 - "John Weyhing, after an illness of nearly a year, succumbed last night at 6:30 o'clock ... He was a brother of Gus Weyhing, the old Athletic[s] pitcher ... [John Weyhing's] first professional engagement was with the Athletics, but he was released about two months after signing. He was afterwards signed by Columbus." The BASEBALL ENCYCLOPEDIA indicates he only participated in 9 games, all in the American Association. The obituary indicates he was forced to abandon professional baseball due to illness, returned home, where he grew weaker and died.
