Alma Elizabeth Shewmaker Drane, 83, of San Diego, California, died Thursday, July 16, 1992 from injuries suffered in a three-vehicle wreck in Canyon, Texas.

Graveside services were at 11 a.m. July 15, 1992 in North Fairview Cemetery in Wellington, with the Rev. Phil Lindley, pastor of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Shamrock, officiating. Arrangements were made by Memorial Chapel of Schooler-Gordon*Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors of Amarillo.

Mrs. Drane was born in Canadian, Texas. She received her education at West Texas State Teachers College in Canyon, Texas. She had taught school in Taft, California, and in schools in the San Diego, California area; she was a longtime teacher, until her retirement. She was a member of the Zoology Society, the Sierra Club, the California Teachers' Association, and St. Patrick's Catholic Church in San Diego.

Survivors include two brothers, J.E. Shewmaker of San Diego, and Allen Shewmaker of Granbury, Texas; and three cousins, Ann Roach and Cecila Payne of Amarillo and Thelma Losure of Sterling, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Drane was the niece of the late Gus and Irene Allen of Wellington and the late "Babe" Shewmaker of Shamrock.
