Mary J. Noble emigrated with her parents from England to Canada where they lived for 4 years near Niagara Falls. Her mother died in 1854 when the epidemic of cholera swept through Kingston, Canada. In 1858 her father relocated to Erie County, New York. After several years in New York, Mr. Noble relocated and settled in Knox County, Illinois in 1865 for the remainder of his life.

Mary married George F. Edwards on November 6, 1867. They had one child, a daughter, Nellie born August 20, 1879. They lived in Knox County, Illinois for about 20 years and then moved to Buffalo County, Nebraska where they farmed for several years. In 1895 they came to Idaho and lived in Boise for 2 years and lived a year on the Snake River. In 1898 they moved to a 120 acre ranch south of Meridian and their daughter Nellie came to live with them. The daughter married Arthur Robert Mersdorf. George died on December 17, 1915 and Mary died August 25, 1921.
