Leander Dikeman was born on 21 May 1806, the eldest child of (Adoniram) 'Niram' and Martha (Patty Barker) Dikeman who were married on 19 OCT 1805 in Danbury. Patty was the daughter of Joseph and Susan (Abbott) Barker of Oyster Bay, Long Island NY.

Leander was a farmer residing in Reading, CT when he married Betsey Ann Marshall Osborne on 14 JAN 1829 at Starr's Plain, Danbury CT where they settled. Leander died in Danbury on 2 FEB 1863. He was buried in Wooster Cemetery.

1-MaryAnn Osborn (Dikeman) WOOD
b. at Danbury CT., 23 MAR 1830;
md. at Reading CT., 10 MAR 1852,
Thomas Wood, a trader
s/o Harvey and Hannah (Dikeman) Wood, of Danbury.
They dwelt at Reading for one year; at Bethel CT, four years; at Allen IL, till July 1865 ; and then settled at Harlan IA, where they were living in JAN 1876.

b. at Reading, CT, 31 Dec. 1852;
md. at Harlan IA, 17 March 1873,
Ada Matilda Sharp,
d/o Neal Johnson and Ella (Trammell) Sharp, of Ogden UT
She was born at Glenwood, IA, 16 NOV 1856.
They settled at Harlan, and were living there in JAN 1876 ; he being editor of the Harlan Record.
II. Howard Everett Wood, b. at Allen, IL., 23 JAN. 1861;
d. at Allen, 25 SEP. 1861, and was buried there.
III. Horace Greeley Wood, b. at Allen, IL., 22 JAN 1863.
IV. Gracie Wood, b. at Harlan, IA, 27 APR 1870;
d.17 MAY 1870, and was buried at Harlan.

2-Hannah (d in infancy)
b. at Danbury, CT., APR 1833 ;
died aged one week.

3- Esther Ann (Dikeman) ALLEN
b. at Danbury, Conn., 20 July 1839;
md. at Bethel, Conn., 16 JAN 1858, Edmond Allen, a salesman,
s/o Delazon and Hannah (WARREN) Allen, of Norwalk, Conn., where he was
born 14 Oct. 1833.
They settled at Danbury, and were living there in Nov. 1873.

I. Caroline Howard Allen, b. at Danbury, Conn., 20 Ap. 1859.
II. Grace Edna Allen, b. at Danbury CT, 28 Feb. 1870; died there, 14 Aug. 1871, and was buried in Wooster Cemetery.

4-John Howard Dikeman (unmarried)
b. at Bethel, Conn., 23 Sept. 1844;
a painter; was living at Danbury, Conn., in Nov. 1873.
