Laura Parish Harvey, 53, died Wednesday,
September 29, 2010, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 1, 2010, at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home Highland Colony, Ridgeland, MS. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Parkway Memorial Cemetery.
A devoted wife and mother, Laura was a native of Carson, MS. A member of Flora United Methodist Church, a member of The Jackson Country Club, The Symphony League, Past President of the Miss Ballet League, a member of the National Honors Society, Mississippi's Miss Hospitality of 1977, was named Honorary Citizen of Jackson, MS in 1978. District Livestock Queen, and Miss Farm Bureau. Laura was secretary-treasurer of the Board of Directors of Harvey of Bossier City, Inc.
Mrs. Harvey was predeceased by her father, James Kenneth Parish; and by her elder brother, James Kenneth Parish, II, both of Carson, Jefferson Davis County, Mississippi.
Survivors include her husband, John L. Harvey, Flora, MS; son, Travis L. Harvey II, Nashville, TN; daughter, Katherine Parish Harvey, Flora, MS; mother, Helen Parish, Carson, MS; brother, Howard G. Parish (Barbara), of Mt. Olive, MS; step-son, John Thomas Harvey, (Ann), Bossier City, LA; step-daughter, Joy Kemp, (Vernon), Palmer, TX; grandchildren, Anna Katherine Harvey, Grace Elizabeth Harvey, Trevor Clayton Kemp, Shelby Kay Kemp; and sister-in-law, Jo (James Lack), Collins, MS.
