On 12 April 1942 he took off from Perranporth in his Spitfire as part of the flight of six aircraft which were to carry out mock attacks using cine cameras. Also flying was Flight Lieutenant Stanislav Zimprich,unfortunately the two planes collided and both pilots were killed. Flight Lieutenant Stanislav Halama is buried at Heanton, Punchardon.
