Catherine Margaretha was born to Peter Thomas & wife (last name Dumas). She married Johannes Peter Hetel in 1797 in Pine Grove, Schuyikill Co., Pennsylvania. Peter left for the War of 1812 leaving her with 5 children to take care of while he was gone. After the War they had 1 more child. By 1820, Catherine and Peter decieded to start their own church in their home, a cabin 12X14 (all children were at home). In 1807 they moved with a church group to Montgomery Co., Ohio. Their children were:

Godfrey Hetzel m. Mary Lesher
Betsey Hetzel
