Benjamin W. Bruce was one of the early settlers in the Sand Creek area, having arrived around 1829-30. The family located on section 28 of Windsor township and then moved to section 22 where they remained. Benjamin was married twice - first to Rachel Puckett and then to Mary Elizabeth Tull. Benjamin & Rachel had two children: William Madison Bruce & Mary Jane Bruce Baker. He & Elizabeth had at least nine children. Benjamin & Elizabeth are buried in the Bruce Cemetery, which is also on Section 22, Windsor Twp. His birth date is calculated from his death date and age at time of death.

Gravesite Details

There is a tombstone in Bruce Cemetery, thanks to the restoration by Greg & Faye Bennett. According to the very clear inscription, his birth date would calculate to have been Dec 30, 1799.
